Scientists in Western Australia have tagged over 70 sharks as part of trial program to help protect bathers. Life guards on the beach will be sent an SMS alert when a shark gets just a little too close for comfort.
Although not quite as dangerous, it would be easy to see a similar concept being used to track grazing animals or even wandering pets (via an iPhone or Twitter app perhaps).
