ExtremeSponsors.com provides ‘the link between talented extreme sports athletes and companies within the industry’.
It’s a business founded out of a real passion for extreme sports, so we caught up with the founder, Mike Douglass, to learn a bit more about where the idea came from and what the future holds for ExtremeSponsors.com.

Iddictive: Where did the idea for ES come from?
Mike: I came up with the initial concept for ExtremeSponsors.com in 2000 when looking for a way to streamline the ‘sponsorship’ process. If you ask any serious athlete within the extreme sports industry what their goal is in their career they will say ‘sponsorship’ as this allows them to make a careers of what of they love doing. At the time to find a sponsorship deal usually meant being in the right place at the right time, spending hours creating a rider CV and posting hundreds of letters out to potential sponsors. This is when I got the idea for ExtremeSponsors.com.
With a background in IT Internet Management I developed a system to assist with the process of ‘sports sponsorship’. An online subscriptions service and online application that acts as the link between talented extreme sports athletes and companies within the industry. Now, several years later and a new version of ExtremeSponsors.com. ExtremeSponsors.com is now a powerful extreme sports social network allowing you to contact and communicate with thousands of extreme sport athletes and companies from across the globe.
We have had alot of support and positive feedback from the riders and companies within the industry and this is helping us develop the concept further.
I: Have you had any external support or funding?
M: We haven’t had any support or funding to date. We have had interest from business’s wanting to invest in ExtremeSponsors.com however we haven’t currently found a deal right for us.
I: What’s the ‘big picture’ goal for ES?
M: Our goal is to become the number one online resource for extreme sports within the UK. We want to show more companies the advantages that sponsorship can bring if they invest in talented riders in the industry. We also want to create more opportunities for riders to find the sponsorship deals they require to progress in their sport .

Its a good idea, but shortly after i registered on this site my details were used without my permission. I can only assume my email was passed to a marketing company, despite the privacy policy.
