Similar in concept (if not execution) to the videos from HowCast we profiled previously, Know It In a Minute produce short (1 minute), branded ‘how to’ and informational video clips covering everything from how to ask someone out on a date to knowing the difference between the cold and a flu (non-swine variety).
The videos are designed and promoted as branded content vehicles for advertisers – who are promoted through 10 sec advertising spots before the clips, banner placement within clips, product placement and voice-over calls to action at the end of the clip.
Collectively these do make some of the videos appear more like mini-ads (which they are) than reliable 3rd party info and the company clearly sells them as a low-cost, targeted alternative to traditional TV advertising spots.
You could argue that the design of the site leaves something to be desired and that the video clips don’t make best use of now commonplace features like clickable advertising links or social media sharing tools.
You could, but while it may not have the slick implementation of other video sites, the one thing Know It In A Minute does have is paying advertisers, including big brand players like Johnson & Johnson.
