Affiliate Programs Re-imagined

Possee.com is a cool business idea.

You create a profile, find concerts and live events that you and your friends might be interested in, promote those events through your social media profiles and then earn a cut from every ticket sold (orders are processed through TicketMaster).

If you strip away the polish though, the idea is a reworked version of an online standard – the humble affiliate program.

Affiliate programs reward website owners who drive traffic to a website with a percentage of the sales generated from that traffic. That idea has worked incredibly well – initially with owners of static websites and then by targeting blog owners keen to generate revenues from their traffic.

Fast forward a few years and it’s not just blog owners and webmasters that attract traffic, followers and eyeballs. Social media profiles from Facebook to Twitter can now be leveraged in the same way – provided you have something worth talking about with a social network.

Event tickets are a perfect fit – but what other industries could use the same treatment?
