Lolligift - Gift Together

Shopping for gifts can either be great fun or a complete pain in the backside. The latter is often the case when you’re the poor soul charge with organizing a group gift for a friend or family member.

Lolligift.com makes group gifting simple. The organizer simply creates a page on Lolligift with relevant details and a rough budget. They then email everyone involved who can then visit the site to discuss gift ideas, sign a gift card and pitch in.

After the deadline date (or whenever they’ve collected enough) the organizer gets the money paid out by check or via PayPal – and can then go shopping.

The company charges a small fee on contributions to cover credit card fees and costs – or as they put it “to keep the servers running and the cats fed”. However, and here’s where it gets interesting, Lolligift also recommend gift ideas via the site – complete with affiliate links to the relevant shopping sites.

Of course, the organizer can choose to spend the money collected anywhere they want – online or off – but by coordinating group gifting the site creates an ideal opportunity to promote relevant products to buyers with funds available.

In future, I’d expect to see a well integrated gift idea generator and featured partners in addition to the existing gift ideas blog. It’s also an idea that ecommerce players should be climbing over each other to license for their own sites.
