After checking out MeGlobe.com you feel that a Star Trek style universal translator can’t be that far off.
MeGlobe is a instant messaging service (which works with your AIM, MSN or Yahoo account) that provides real time language translations – allowing you to converse with people in over a dozen different languages.
You simply set your native language, type in what you want to say and the recipient sees it in their native language.
Here are a few applications we’d like to see:
- A Twitter app version for multi-lingual tweeting fun (Twitrans does this using human translators but it takes a couple of minutes)
- An iPhone app version
- Something that can do the same with your SMS messages
- MeGlobe embedded into the websites of hotels and tourist attractions – anyone who targets overseas visitors
Any more ideas? Know of any services that do this already? Pop them in the comments below.
