Granny Sourced Knitwear

As a society we don’t really know very much about where our products come from but there’s a clear and growing trend towards connecting buyers with the producers of the products they consume.

French company GoldenHook sells custom knitted hats allowing you to select the style and develop the design on their website. The fun part is that when you’re satisfied with your design you get to choose a real life Granny to knit it for you. Each Granny has a short bio to help you choose and you can even ask her to sign her name to the label.

Connecting buyers with producers has made sites like etsy hugely popular. GoldenHook gives a niche idea a ton of personality and fun. So what other kinds of products (or even services) would suit this kind of model?

this is a ridiculously awesome idea. As long as grandma enjoys it, and doesn’t see it as work, but gets the pleasure out of being chosen and connecting with the wearer/purchaser.
