No problem, Pennsylvania-based Paw Luxury sells ‘eco-friendly products for the everyday dog’.
Inspired by their two passions – eco-living and their boxer Lola – Adam and Wendy Leidhecker started Paw Luxury in April 2008 and have built a loyal and enthusiastic following ever since.
As proud parents we wanted to give Lola the best nature had to offer but found it difficult to find eco-friendly products under one roof. So we went sniffing with Lola, searched high and low and dug a few holes along the way.
Then we thought to ourselves why not create a one-stop online destination that caters to the need for healthy alternatives?
Although the business has a ‘bricks and mortar’ presence too, 90% of sales are generated online – which is largely down to the team’s wholehearted adoption of social media tools, Twitter in particular.
Social media has been a great tool for helping us build relationships and brand awareness. Twitter in particular has been a great way for us to connect & build long lasting friendship & speak intimately with our customers one on one. …
We genuinely want to get to know them and their pets with no strings attached and offer up advice & Lola’s barking words of wisdom when needed. As people come to know us more personally often times they will tell their friends about us and so on. Now that we mention it, some of our most satisfied & tail wagging customers found us on Twitter.
In addition to Twitter, the company are also launching a series of YouTube videos and a podcast is in the works.
Long term they also intend to introduce a range for cats too, “We want our site to be known not just for shopping for the best in green pet products, but as a destination that provides informative, fun, interactive content about going green with your furry friend.”
Combining two key trends (quality-driven pet products and eco-awareness) is certainly a smart move, but what separates this firm is their willingness and ability to bring their own personality and passions to the table and develop a brand which their customers truly care about.
Certainly a model to follow with your own passion-inspired business.
