Following on from our post on starting an online video tutorial business, here’s a business that’s taken the idea a little further.
Howcast.com produces free how-to videos for consumers covering just about any topic. The video are created by members of the Howcast network (explained in the video below) which includes paid directors sourced from site visitors.
Started by Google and YouTube alumni, the site makes money through on site advertising and cool translucent Adsense ads that appear at the bottom of videos. Needless to say, it’s got some good press from places like the WSJ and Fortune magazine and made Time’s Top 50 Websites of 2008.
Definitely one to partner with or be inspired by.
